Image transfer is a technique in which you take a printed image and transfer it to another surface. It can produce many different effects on paper as it is a way to place a black and white image on painted and collaged backgrounds like the example above.

It can also be used to transfer detailed images onto polymer clay as you see below:

Fiber artists and quilters use special paper in inkjet printers to transfer images on to fabric such as you see here:
