I have become a member of Facebook and also Twitter and I post my Squidoo Lens updates to them both. Think it does lead to more traffic.

Your advice makes perfect sense, Valerie.

Btw, I read your recommendation about Steve Pavlina's blog, went over and read a few posts. Great stuff! He's got a new subscriber!

Elaine you would be well advised to ignore email hype and read lenses from lensmasters who are doing well, and follow their example. There are many good lensmasters here in this network.

Many people are trying to promote their own agendas. If a lensmaster is doing so well, then their lens rank would demonstrate their success.

Follow the successful lensmasters, not the ones that "Talk the Talk, but don't walk the walk". The proof is in the pudding!

I deleted it. That was posted a year ago and I no longer consider it relevant.

In terms of Google ranking you need to move up in the ranks with Google by:

1. Fresh content
2. good SEO
3. good links to your lens (traffic) whatever way you get it except in a direct link exchange. Google penalizes sites now that exchange links.

Study, Study, Study

Here's a good SEO keyword site, but you'll have to figure out how to use it yourself: SEO Keyword Density - Hint your main keyword needs to have good density within your lens!

I see I'm a little late coming to this discussion, Valerie, as this was posted last summer.

I'm not sure how your advice would be implemented or how it would help.

You say: "Here is code for a chain blog." What is a chain blog? Why would linking to blogs that have no relevance to the subject of a squidoo post help promote it with the Google search engine?

To Dvorah, I went to List Joe and read the page. It seemed promising until I got to the end where it said I must be willing to receive 33 emails a day. That's where I opted not to join.

I actually read my emails and respond to them. It takes up a considerable portion of my day. I would not want to have to look through 33 additional emails and act on them.

I have no idea what address appears in these email, not having participated in the program, but it occurs to me that if it is "ListJoe" it would be easy to just delete them without ever opening them. If I have thought of that as a solution, I imagine many others have, too. Then what actually is the possibility of getting your "ad" read?

You mention that yours receive 300 visitors. That would be awesome. Are you using Quantcast or some other code to track visitors to your Squidoo lenses?

The best way that I've found to get traffic to my lens and thus for my lens to get ranked really high in the search engine is by inviting, via a list service such as List Joe
I'm allowed to send out an email to 3,000 people every 3 days. Typically I get 300 visitors and 30 opt ins!
